Description
Clear Creek is one of eight state forests located in the Pennsylvania Wilds. It comprises 16,716 acres in Jefferson, Clarion, Venango, Forest, and Mercer Counties. Many of its acres border the Clarion and Allegheny Rivers while other tracts rest on the Allegheny Plateau and grow a diverse collection of trees. It is named for the crystal-clear stream flowing through the Clear Creek Tract in Jefferson County.

Geography:
The Clear Creek State Forest is located near the southern edge of the High Plateau Section of the Appalachian Plateau Province in Northwestern Pennsylvania. The area is characterized by rounded to flat uplands with deep angular valleys. The State Forest lies primarily in the Allegheny and Upper Ohio Watersheds. The area is home to abundant wildlife and diverse plant communities as well as interesting geological features such as Beartown Rocks.
Recreation:
Clear Creek State Forest boasts 77 miles of popular trails, including Clear Creek, Pine Run Loop, Silvis, Trap Run, Bear Town Rocks Trails, and the North Country National Scenic Trail. Rewarding fishing and hunting can be found throughout the diverse forests of the Clear Creek. Mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing are other popular activities.
Camping in Clear Creek State Forest provides an opportunity to get away from it all and spend a night in the great outdoors.Facilities:
The Clear Creek State Forest has limited facilities but provides access areas to points of interest and serves as an ideal gateway to the well-known North Country Scenic Trail and the Baker Trail.

The Clear Creek State Forest District Office is located at 158 South 2nd Ave in Clarion. From I-80, take Exit 62 and follow PA-68 E for 1.9 miles. Turn left onto South Street and continue for 0.3 miles and take a left onto South 2nd Avenue. Clear Creek State Forest tracts are located in Jefferson, Clarion, Forest, Venango, and Mercer counties. Motorized campsites are located in the Callen Run Tract, Jefferson County.
